It's been now 7 1/2 months since I started again with Transformetrics, exercising near daily for the longest consistent period in my life. I'm certainly not the strongest or fittest person on this forum, but I've come a long way from having so much fatigue that I could barely get out of bed. I've also gained about 10 lbs this year in functional muscle. I've always been extremely underweight, but now have noticable pecs (for me at least) for the first time really in my life.

Since others have been so brave as to post their photos, I thought I'd share a couple of me. These were taken post-workout tonight, in the Boulder heat, and flexed (obviously)--taken with my Macbook camera.

Far more important than looks to me is the fact that I now feel "in good condition." Tonight I did 20 rounds of nonstop power calisthenics, 1 minute per round. I also did a second light workout earlier in the day. I know that I will not be sore tomorrow (although I may rest anyway), nor will I be injured or have muscle or joint tweaks (almost always). Again, that's not anywhere close to what other guys and gals can do here, but it's amazing for me. I feel more physically fit and physically confident than I've ever been.

And as I'm a wee 30 years old, I have 20 or so years to catch up to some of the stronger men here. ;)

Duff, to say that your results are impressive would be the understatement of the year. Congratulations. Gordon

I'm impressed. I think you are doing a wonderful job. Everyone's somatype (body type) is different. Someone who leans towards the ectomorphic (thin boned) has a harder time putting on muscular size, but when they do, a little bit goes a long way and they look ten times more impressive. Keep going and keep moving.

p.s. Good overhead lighting with pumped muscles makes a significant difference in how one appears. :)

looking good man. Keep up the good work. Looks like we have the same body type and I know how hard it is to put on weight, so gaining 10lbs of muscle is a really great accomplishment. Congrats.

Thanks a ton everybody! I appreciate your kindness and support. Reading and posting on this forum is a major pillar that helps hold my practice of exercise together.

God development, eh? LOL Well, I guess I couldn't have done it without His help. ;)

@bmcel7 -- Yea, you and I are both ectomorphs. The weight gain seems to have been a result of healing some longstanding stomach problems, including ceasing to eat soy which I found out I was allergic to only after 11 years eating vegetarian! Now I can actually digest my food properly! :)

Hey Duff,

What could I possibly say that has not already been said? How about this? I'm proud to count you among my good friends. Duff you exemplify everything that I teach and stand for and as corny as it sounds I am proud of you.

Now some people will think that I'm trying to pat myself on the back for your results and my response to that is Bull Roar! Duff, you applied yourself and you did it. But still, the message we bring has resonated with you and the results are clearly evident. You know as well as I do Duff, that for an ectomorph to try to develop his body by following someone else's instruction that has been created and geared strictly toward training mesomorph's is a recipe for disaster and injury. Yet, as physiologist William Sheldon was teaching in 1952 (the year that I was born), each and every one of us can maximize our physiological disposition through properly administered physiological exercise that maximizes the traits we wish to develop. This is why Shelton had created his three component shorthand scale for varieties of human physique.

Shelton classified men into three dominate races. These races had nothing to do with skin color, racial origin, or religion. His divisions of race were Endomorph, Mesomorph, and Ectomorph. With subsets in between. He would evaluate photos and judge each component on a scale of 1 (1-Being the least) to 7 (7-being the highest or most) and grade each individual on all three components. The components were #1) Endomorphy - focused on the digestive system, particularly the stomach (endoderm); according to Sheldon, the endomorph has the tendency toward plumpness, corresponds to Viscerotonia temperament tolerant, love of comfort and luxury, extravert. #2 Mesophorphy- focused on musculature and the circulatory system (mesoderm), has the tendency towards muscularity, corresponds to the Somatotonia temperament courageous, energetic, active, dynamic, assertive, aggressive, risk taker. And finally #3) Ectomorphy focused on the nervous system and the brain (ectoderm) - the tendency towards slightness, corresponds to Cerebrotonia temperament artistic, sensitive, apprehensive, introvert. naturally most people are a combination of all three types with one of the three being most dominate.

For example, Charles Atlas would be a 171 or possibly a 172 while men like the late actors Sam Kinison, John Candy, and Louie Anderson were all in the 631(Dominate endomorph) category. Likewise an actor like the late James Stewart was definitely a 136 or possibly a 137 which in Sheldon's jargon meant that he had almost no fat, was mildly muscular and dominately thin and high strung.(incidentally, Jimmy Stewart was 6'3" and weighed exactly 137 when he enlisted in World War II)

Now granted, there are those experts that think Sheldon's somatotyping is hogwash (just as I think most of what they teach is is hogwash). BUT I DON'T. My grandfather believed strongly in Sheldon's theories and so do I. I even have Sheldon's text from 1953. In fact, it is part of my Transformetrics certification curriculum.

So why am I mentioning all this stuff? Because Duff, through hard work you have already taken your body and transformed it from 137 to 157. Not an easy accomplishment. BUT A GREAT ONE NONETHELESS. Congratulations are in order my Friend.

Thank you John, I appreciate the kind words. In addition to the specific exercise methods you teach, perhaps the most important lesson I am learning from you is intuitive exercise---to listen to my own body, modify exercises and plans as needed for my bodytype/limb length/etc. I resonated with that when PYTP first came out, but it took me quite a few years for that message to actually get through the layers of weight-training indoctrination! :)

I bet you posted about this before but I haven't seen it, Duff. How long ago did you find you were allergic to soy? I can't think of it right now, but someone else on this forum from long ago, a skinny type, found out he had to be a meat (or animal product - egg?) and fat eater and all of a sudden he wasn't so ectish. So when in the 7.5 months did you find out, or before?

Tom,

I found out a couple years ago now, maybe as long as 3 years ago. At first I didn't gain much weight, probably because I wasn't exercising. I was just kind of wasting away really, feeling really tired all the time. But I realized I needed to overcome my fear of exercising (my fear was it would make the fatigue worse, which it would have if I'd pushed too hard like I used to in the past). Slow and steady, especially careful at first to not overdo it, seemed to be the key for me.
