I have been teaching and training many different agencies and people during the last ten years and I am curious as to those that look for different ways of defending ones self and loved ones, by storing food or putting away ammo or firearms, or seeds. Is the feelings out there that there is a greater need to be more independent than ever as the world seems to be growing in to a bigger and bigger nanny state in which everyonne is giving up there independence and relying on the government to solve are problems and meet our needs. It seems to me that there are two worlds of thought out there, we deserve more and to be taken care of which I believe makes us all a little weaker and less able to survive when left alone and those that just want to be left alone and independent. In the things that I do, it seems that I am seeing a new level of fear out there. I would apprecicate some of your opinions.

Larry many people I talk have a feeling that things can turn bad fast. It might be Washington is so out of touch with the People, no matter what the Party is in Power. I know folks buying food, ammo, guns and seeds just in case. It use to be the survivalist types did that stuff and now Suburban types are to. When my Liberal friend's starting asking what guns they needed made me realize there was a change; they are not just asking, they are buying guns.

I have a Arab friend in Saudi Arabia and talk to him on the internet. He thinks Iran is going to use EMP Electromagnetic Pulse Nuclear weapons on Israel, Europe, the Arabs and USA. Now iran knows that an EMP weapon over Israel or the Arab Lands will also burn out elecronics, power lines in Iran as a result. So you have Arabs fearing the same thing, now it might just the well off Arabs and not the man on the street. I know some in Israel have the same fears through a friend living there.

I do not think the worst case senario will happen, I see can Economic Collapse like Argentina in 2000, and recently read that the real unemplyment rate is 25%; that is a higher figure than the offical 9.7% or the 17% real unemplyment you hear that includes those not collecting unemplyment Insurance, tthose underemplyed and discouraged workers. So we might well be the low point, but we'll stay here now as the norm.

It might be the change in Washington, rather than study what is the best National Health System we had the Democrats ram through what they wanted, and what benifited Wall Street. We have Paul Farrell at the Wall Street Journal Market Watch Site talking about how Obama was bought off and elected by Wall Street, and his policies will wreck the Economy. That gets people worried. Adopting a European National Health System would be good for the USA but the Democrats adopted one good for Wall Street.

Hi All,

I believe that the government has a very important place in society. I believe it is there to help those that need help and I for one will continue to donate to alll those that are in need. I know that it is has helped save many lives and it has helped many people who truly need it and I would gladly support the government in any way possible to help them help even more. I however do believe that we continue and expand and weaken those that can make their lives better, because they have no health issues, just the lack of dignity in trying to improve themselves have made it possible to become another victim of societies inability to grow strong. Shyla, you are stronger than most anyone I have ever known and you have accompished more with what you have than most anyone you will ever meet!!!!

Time will tell what destiny will bring, but you are correct, people are sensing something that may be wrong and are trying to pepare for it. Be safe, your friend, Larry

Unfortunately Larry, you've hit on a split that is polarizing our society. Some are depending more and more on sucking at the teat of government. Other's are isolating themselves, or surrounding themselves with like mined people in a survivalist, I am going to do for mine mode.

Government is a necessary evil and if you believe the Bible, it is ordained by God. Where we go wrong is to look at government as solving all of society's ills and becoming God. It don't work. The perfect government doesn't exist and never will because human beings are not perfect.

I believe on being as self-reliant as possible, but we must live in peace and harmony with others as well, and we can achieve this with a strong dose of God dependence.

Society at all levels is going through massive change. One of the economic historians that I most respect Marc Faber, says that the changes will be "As great as Europe's late 15th Century Golden Age of discovery and the Industrial Revolution of the 19th centruy- events that altered the commercial face fo the earth forever." With this amount of change it is hard to predict the outcomes and certainly so in individual or specific geographic situations. Massive changes by large corporations and Governments always cause unintended conscequences - some good and some bad. In a time of unpredictble change it is up to each of us to develop our individual survival skills, strength , and inuiitive abilities. There is no better place to prepare ourselves and develop the needed skills and abilities to survive and ultimately to prosper from these coming changes than on this forum.

My mindset changed, 10 years ago mine was an action career in Law Enforcement. I saw the real poor in the USA. Use to make referrals to Adult Protective to help families in need, write letters to Food Banks and Warehouses run by Churches to get families food, cookware, clothing and housewares, they need a letter from a social worker or a Lawman. As far as I know nothing has changed we have a broken social system and things just got worse from what I hear. God bless them all.
